I recently photographed Hattie Clement's monument located in Riverview cemetery.  As it is such a large monument, I wondered if she was a person of stature in town. Should you have any information on her I'd like to add it to her bio on her memorial page.

To access her page go to  http://tinyurl.com/e4wfe and put Clement in the surname search box.

Thanking you in advance.

Hi D.J.,

The Whitcomb family, and its history in Richmond, could probably be a book in itself! In a nutshell, her ancestor, Thomas Whitcomb, was a tavernier and one of the original landowners, lot 147, of Richmond. Her ancestors were also the operators of The Whitcomb Farm, which became the Venture Farm.

Our new publication entitled ...Richmond, Vermont A History of More than 200 Years.... holds much more information regarding the Whitcomb family and is available at Town Hall and through our RHS Shop. I hope this helps shed some light on your inquiry.

Thanks for your interest in our rich history!
