Geer Family
I am looking for information about the Geer Family which lived in Richmond from about 1794/5 to 1832. My ancestor Abigail Geer Rood was the daughter of Ezra and Abigail (Warner) Geer. Are they buried in a cemetery in Richmond? Were Orlin and Abigail (Geer) Rood married in the Old Round Church in 1824? Abigail died in 1831 but I did not find her buried in Jericho with the Rood family. I do have a copy of Ezra Geer's Rev. War Pension file which says that Abigail was born in 1794 but it does not say whether she was born in Richmond. From the census placement, I think the Geer farm must have been near the Jericho line.  Diane Siemens

Hi Diane,

Welcome to our forum. I did some preliminary digging through the town records today and I found two early references to the Geer family;

Amos C Geer married Dolly Thompson September 27 1816 by Justice of the Peace.

I also found a family census which was not dated:

It restates their marriage and names the following children:
Himan Geer born 10/20/1818
Ezra Geer born 7/30/182(?) no final number written in date
Benoni Geer born 9/11/1825 unsure of spelling of first name.

I'll keep researching your request, but thought you might find this interesting.

Dave
